Brian and Phil’s Kansas City Engagement Session

Brian and Phil warned me several times that they aren’t fans of having their pictures taken. Maybe that’s partially true? And they also claimed that they’re not photogenic. That certainly isn’t true. I’m not sure that they were looking forward to their engagement session, but I definitely was. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to document their engagement and work with them prior to their wedding this fall, which I’m fairly certain is going to be the celebration of the century!

…And I think they ended up having fun at their session. That’s always a relief for me!

The location they chose – the Crossroads Art District in Kansas City – is not only one of my favorite backgrounds for photos, but it is especially meaningful for these guys. They love the beautiful KC skyline, which can be perfectly viewed from the north lawn of Liberty Memorial, and they were excited for the opportunity to take some dusk and nighttime shots with the city lights in the background. With plans to end the session there, we wanted to start the session closer to the heart of Crossroads. I asked them to meet me in the parking lot at Lidia’s, not knowing until later that Lidia’s is where they enjoyed their first date… fourteen years ago.

Jackie and Dylan are Engaged!

This fantastic couple is getting married soon. We enjoyed an incredibly fun engagement photo session at Shoal Creek Living History Museum – a beautiful, rustic setting I absolutely adore. I loved working with Jackie and Dylan. They interact so lovingly and so naturally in front of the camera, which is what I always hope for. And, my goodness… they’re incredibly photogenic!IMG_1233 IMG_1293 IMG_1330 IMG_1360 IMG_1361 IMG_1382 IMG_1432 IMG_1452 IMG_1457 IMG_1481 IMG_1482 IMG_1502 IMG_1508 IMG_1525IMG_1575 IMG_1537

Alexis and Jason are Engaged!

What do a laundromat, a historic business district, a gourmet hot dog restaurant, and a drive-in movie theatre have in common? This super fun engagement photo session with Alexis and Jason! We explored some non-traditional, but wonderfully photogenic areas of good old Independence on our journey to document this great couple’s engagement.

Paige and Jeff are Engaged!

I’ve said it before, and I don’t mind bragging by saying it again: I have awesome clients. The best anyone could ask for. Like Paige and Jeff, for example.

Their engagement session was incredibly enjoyable. They’re a fun, laid-back couple, which makes my job easy. It’s anything but work. But they had a hard time putting on their “serious faces” when I asked. I always enjoy the softer smiles from couples in love, but I soon realized that Paige and Jeff as individuals and as a couple are naturally full of life, laughter, and big smiles — the kind of stuff I soon realized I didn’t want them to tone down.

Happy goodness. Good happiness. Paige and Jeff!

Stephanie and Ryan are Engaged!

I think this might be the most KC-reppin’ shoot of my career thus far: Union Station. Liberty Memorial. The Crossroads. Loose Park. And a fountain. Maybe when Stephanie and Ryan get married, we can sneak off for a bit and grab some Gates BBQ. Nothing goes better with a wedding dress than BBQ sauce, right?!

But more important than the awesomeness of Kansas City is the awesomeness of Stephanie and Ryan together. I loved witnessing the joyous energy and excitement that they share. And I can’t wait to capture the incredible moments of their upcoming wedding day.
