I know, I know… these people have appeared all over my website and my blog for years. I should really stop posting so many of their pictures (or maybe buy a new domain exclusively for their pictures). But, come on! Just look at them! They’re ridiculously adorable. They’re amazing to work with. And each year I get the joy of seeing these handsome boys grow up, surrounded by the love of their incredible parents.
Using an alliteration in the title of this blog post was a must. I may even include some similes, metaphors, or hyperboles in this post. Proper grammar is an absolute requirement. I will do these things in honor of my wonderful seventh grade Language Arts teacher, who also happens to be this lovely bride. I have admired her since I was 12 years old (and though I won’t offer the exact number of years, that was a LONG time ago). I have kept in touch with her through the years, and she has continued to inspire me – not only as an educator, but also as a mother, a friend, and a survivor. She’s simply a phenomenal person. To be a witness to this incredibly joyful day for her was a wonderful honor.
Susie and Dave exchanged vows during an intimate morning ceremony in the woods, surrounded by nature, friends, and family. It was perfect and beautiful. It was everything that a wedding should be.
Congratulations to the newlyweds! Best wishes for continued adventures and an endlessly growing love in the years to come!

I first met Sierra toward the end of last year when she came to my studio for photos in her track and cross country gear. She is a natural model, so I had a great time working with her. I think we captured some nice, dramatic photos of her in the studio. Here’s one of my favorites:
After working with her in the studio, I knew her spring session would be awesome. I knew she’d make it easy on me because she’s easy-going, cooperative, and very photogenic. But my high expectations were completely surpassed. Seirra rocked her outdoor session from start to finish. Maybe it’s because we were already comfortable working together. Maybe it’s because we weren’t confined to the studio space. Maybe it’s because Sierra is absolutely gorgeous and glowing with personality, and I had more opportunities to capture her more of who she is this time around. Whatever it may have been, I’m thrilled with the outcome.

You know those little moments when you realize that everything is going your way, and although you’re supposed to remain calm, in your mind, you’re dancing and squealing like a small child because of all the perfection? That was my constant mental state during Rachel and Aaron’s epic wedding a few weeks ago. I had been looking forward to their wedding day because (1) they are awesome people that I totally adore, (2) their engagement session was so much fun, and (3) they booked one of the best venues in the area, especially for an autumn wedding. They had obviously put lots of time and love into each detail of their day, and it came together beautifully.
Beyond that, they trusted me. It’s such a crucial element in a successful photography session or wedding. They let me take control during formal photos. They let me try new things. They let me work, and they let me rest (they let me drink some of their phenomenal beer, too). They understood that my job was to document their day, their friends and family, and their wonderful celebration as they joined their lives together.
It was any photographer’s dream wedding, and it was the absolute perfect way for me to end my 2014 wedding season.

This fantastic couple is getting married soon. We enjoyed an incredibly fun engagement photo session at Shoal Creek Living History Museum – a beautiful, rustic setting I absolutely adore. I loved working with Jackie and Dylan. They interact so lovingly and so naturally in front of the camera, which is what I always hope for. And, my goodness… they’re incredibly photogenic!

It’s always a pleasure working with the Hawman family! Our first session took place several years ago when Anson was a couple months shy of being born, and now he’s nearly as tall as I am. Which sounds like I’ve been photographing them for a decade or so, but that’s not the case. And that’s a bit of an exaggeration anyway. He’s just really tall for a youngster and I’m really short for an old-ster.
Angie and Chris are in love. I knew this before our photo session because they told me. I knew this after our photo session because they showed me. It is absolutely obvious that each is the other’s favorite person. They entertain one another. They share an energy together. They are good and right together. I hope these pictures show just a fraction of the emotion that is apparent when they are together.
Columbia! Tiger pride! Cute people! Cute people IN LOVE! These are four of the thousands of reasons why my job is awesome.
Lauren and Brad are getting married next year and I will have the great honor of documenting their amazing day.
